Streets and Street Lighting

Streets and Alleys
Scotia has a network of arterial and collector streets that provide service to the various neighborhoods. This road system was constructed by PALCO and the California Department of Transportation.

Streets and Alleyway infrastructure upgrades are required through the Town of Scotia LLC’s subdivision process and are being upgraded through each phase of subdivision. As of the end of 2017, Scotia CSD holds responsibility for limited streets and alleyway infrastructure in Phase 1, with Phase 2 projected for acceptance in early 2018.

The Scotia Community Services District is responsible for streets and alleyways within the community that are outside the County Right of Ways, and not associated with private infrastructure (see SCSD Resolution 2016-8). The Humboldt County Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining B Street, Church Street, Eddy Street, Main Street, Mill Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, 5th Street, and 6th Street.

Streetlighting
Scotia has a variety of street lighting, both modern era and historical. The modern light posts are maintained by PG&E, while the CSD pays for the electrical costs; and the Scotia CSD owns, operates, maintains and cover the cost of electricity for approximately 32 historical light posts in the community.
